Family Medicine Residency

Message from the Program Director

Chokma!

Greetings from the Chickasaw Nation Family Medicine Residency (CNFMR)! We welcome you to explore our website to learn more about the many great opportunities available to assist in your journey as a family medicine physician.

The CNFMR program seeks to prepare capable and compassionate graduates by providing a wide range of hands-on learning experiences. Through our state-of-the-art facility and technology, diverse medical services and experienced staff, CNFMR is committed to equipping residents with the skills and knowledge necessary for success.

Residents can customize their education to best suit their interests and career goals by selecting from a variety of electives. From infants to the elderly, our faculty teach understanding of care across the spectrum of patients, with emphasis on maternity, behavioral health and preventative care.

Curriculum is designed to deliver training focused on the fundamental principles of family medicine, including comprehensive and holistic service, continuity of care, in-patient education, specialist care and procedures and cultural sensitivity.

Residents have the opportunity to learn in the hospital, ambulatory and community settings. Our foundation is built upon ambulatory training that focuses on allowing residents to take responsibility for the care of patients with acute problems and chronic diseases. Mental health care is also integrated into our daily health care practices, connecting behavioral health input and methods of addressing social needs.

By training the next generation of physicians to meet the needs of today, as well as the future, CNFMR is working to fulfill the Chickasaw Nation’s mission to enhance the overall quality of life of the Chickasaw people, while assisting other First American citizens and the greater community.

I am proud to be part of this tradition and hope we have the opportunity to meet and share more about our program. We look forward to welcoming you to the Chickasaw Nation Family Medicine Residency.

Dr. Marilyn Hines
Program Director

The primary goal of the Chickasaw Nation Family Medicine Residency (CNFMR) is to train fully competent and compassionate family physicians. The program’s philosophy is that family medicine is the foundation of all medical care. Our program provides a wide exposure of medical conditions and is built upon core knowledge and skills, derived from traditional medical principals and surgical models. This approach is designed to consistently deliver quality care that is patient centered, personal and comprehensive, to include, not just the patient, but their family and community.

The combination of our community’s unique state-of-the-art facility and capable and experienced medical staff provides the environment, skills and knowledge necessary for your success. We provide residents with excellent opportunities to grow, both professionally and personally, through “hands-on” learning and evidenced-based medicine. Our talented staff, curriculum and strong commitment allow residents to serve the First American population, while gaining a unique education and experience.

We strive to provide training that emphasizes fundamental principles of family medicine that include comprehensive and holistic service, cultural sensitivity, continuity of care and care that is of the highest quality, while being cost effective. Our program will provide an environment for the resident to learn in the hospital, ambulatory and community settings. By doing this, the residents will master the ability to provide a full scope of care for their patients during residency and during their career after graduation.
