The Chickasaw Nation Department of Health (CNDH) is dedicated to providing vital programs and services to promote and protect the health of Chickasaws, First Americans and community members.

From comprehensive medical and mental health services, to nutrition resources and vaccinations, our research and public health division (RPH) guides a broad approach to wellness by creating a culture of holistic care that empowers citizens to make informed decisions about their own health.

By integrating evidence-based public health practices with Chickasaw culture, and providing community-driven health literacy education services, our goal as public health professionals is to assist citizens of all ages with enhancing health and overall well-being.

Through partnerships with government and other public health groups, a strong commitment to ongoing development and education, CNDH public health strives to positively impact health and wellness in our communities.

Diabetes is a chronic health condition that affects how your body turns food into energy. Individuals with diabetes cannot properly break down sugar due to a lack of adequate insulin, leaving too much sugar in the bloodstream. Over time, this can cause multiple serious health problems such as heart disease, vision loss and kidney disease. While there is no cure yet for diabetes, there are many ways to treat and manage this health condition through proper nutrition and exercise.
