Onboarding and Orientation
New Chickasaw Nation Department of Health (CNDH) employees receive specialized support to help with understanding the expectations of their role and learning our culture, goals, mission, vision, values, policies and procedures.

What is nurse onboarding and orientation?
During orientation, you will receive information about the Chickasaw Nation’s policies and procedures, organizational structure, employee benefits and other essential information.

Nurse onboarding will integrate new staff into CNDH over several months, from the moment of hire until you become established within our organization. Depending on your specialty and experience, it could be as little as 16 weeks. Our onboarding strategy is a part of our commitment to the people we serve and helps you understand and embrace your new role.

Once you have officially accepted a position with CNDH, human resources will contact you with your orientation dates and where to report on your first day. Your manager will also reach out before your first shift to introduce themselves and answer any questions you may have.

A team will guide you through your onboarding process. You will be assigned a one-on-one advisor who shares your specialty. They will be your mentor and primary resource for everything related to your area. Each area also has a unit educator. The unit educator, along with your manager, will establish your onboarding path and provide assistance along the way.

Annual Skills Fair
In partnership with nursing leadership, CNDH provides an engaging skills fair each year to help you stay up to date with essential skills and training for your annual competency assessment.

American Heart Association Certification
All nursing staff utilize the Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI)® Program from the American Heart Association. This quarterly training program supports your continued mastery of CPR skills with frequent trainings and immediate performance feedback.

HeartCode® is a self-directed, comprehensive eLearning program that combines online learning with hands-on CPR skills practice. HeartCode uses adaptive technology to provide immediate feedback and track your progress over time. The online portion of the course can be completed at your own pace with a hands-on skills session including a voice-assisted manikin (VAM), to ensure CPR and automated external defibrillator (AED) skills competence. This learning format improves CPR skills retention and helps develop critical thinking skills to use at the patient’s bedside.

RQI satisfies requirements for clinicians and accreditation requirements for hospitals. Modules available include:
