Selected Residency Preceptors

Travis Freeze, Pharm.D., MBA, NCPS
Director of Pharmacy Services

Dr. Freeze received his doctorate in pharmacy from Southwestern Oklahoma State University and a Master of Business Administration from Oklahoma Christian University. He serves as the Director of Pharmacy services for the Chickasaw Nation Department of Health and oversees the leadership longitudinal learning experience for the residency program.

Heath Denney, Pharm.D.
Deputy Director of Pharmacy Services

Dr. Denney received his doctorate in pharmacy from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in 2005. He has 10 years of inpatient pharmacy experience as a staff pharmacist and manager, in both federal and private health care facilities. He serves as Deputy Director of Pharmacy Services for the Chickasaw Nation Department of Health.

Jonathan K. Willett, Pharm.D., BCPS
Outpatient Clinical Pharmacy Coordinator/Residency Program Director

Dr. Willett received his doctorate in pharmacy from Southwestern Oklahoma State University. He served as PGY-1 Pharmacy Resident from 2014-2015 at the Chickasaw Nation Medical Center. Since completing his residency, Dr. Willett has held several positions within the Chickasaw Nation Health System including inpatient staff, informatics, outpatient clinical practice and administration. In the role of Residency Director, he is excited to work closely with his amazing residency preceptors to ensure prospective residents receive every opportunity to explore pharmacy practice within this exciting and dynamic practice setting. In addition, Dr. Willett serves as preceptor or co-preceptor for the residency orientation, ambulatory care and longitudinal project management rotations.

Haley Barrett, Pharm.D., AE-C
Outpatient Pharmacy Ambulatory Clinic Manager

Dr. Barrett received her doctorate in pharmacy from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. She is also a certified asthma educator. She began her career as an outpatient staff pharmacist and now oversees the ambulatory clinics within outpatient pharmacy. This work has included protocol development and implementation of pharmacist-managed Medication-Assisted Therapy (MAT) for opioid use disorder.

Brandi Watts, Pharm.D., BCACP
Inpatient Clinical Pharmacy Coordinator

Dr. Watts received her doctorate in pharmacy from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. After completion of her degree, she was offered the pharmacy supervisor position at the Chickasaw Nation Purcell Health Clinic. She held this position from 2010-2015. In this time she managed the anticoagulation management service (AMS) clinic and was the primary preceptor for OUHSC-COP Ambulatory Care rotation. Currently, she serves as the inpatient clinical pharmacy coordinator and oversees the infectious disease rotation.

Randy Steers, Pharm.D., MHA, BCPS, NCPS
Inpatient Pharmacy Manager

Dr. Steers received his doctorate in pharmacy from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in 2008 and his Master in Health Care Administration from Oklahoma State University in 2016. He completed a PGY1 pharmacy residency at the Choctaw Nation Health Care Center in Talihina, Oklahoma, in 2009. He serves as the inpatient pharmacy manager at the Chickasaw Nation Department of Health and oversees the inpatient pharmacy rotation in conjunction with Dr. Brandi Watts.

Randy Grimes, Pharm.D.
Inpatient Pharmacy Assistant Manager

Dr. Grimes received his doctorate in pharmacy from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in 2012. He then began working for the Chickasaw Nation Medical Center, where he then became Assistant Manager of Outpatient Pharmacy in 2013. He currently serves as Assistant Manager of Inpatient Pharmacy, a position he took in 2017. He works in conjunction with Ross Clark and Heath Denney regarding inpatient pharmacy rotations.

Kayla Carmichael, Pharm.D., BCACP, CDE
Family Practice Pharmacist

Dr. Carmichael received her doctorate in pharmacy from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. She has also received her certificate as a Certified Diabetic Educator and is a Board Certified Ambulatory Care Pharmacist. She currently serves as the Family Practice Clinical Pharmacist and oversees the family practice rotation in the Chickasaw Nation Family Practice Clinic.

Andy Hinkle, Pharm.D.
Emergency Department Pharmacist

Dr. Hinkle received his doctorate in pharmacy from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in May 2011. He started as an Outpatient Pharmacist for the Chickasaw Nation Medical Center in June 2011. In April 2013, he moved to the Emergency Department. He is currently on the Antibiotic Stewardship Committee and serves as the preceptor for the Emergency Department rotation.

Beverly Weaver, Pharm.D., BCACP, CDE
Outpatient Pharmacist – Purcell Health Clinic

Dr. Weaver received her doctorate in pharmacy from Southwestern Oklahoma State University College of Pharmacy. She completed a PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency in the Ambulatory Care Setting at Mission Hospitals/MAHEC in Asheville, North Carolina, in 2009. She has served as the Chickasaw Nation Medical Center PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency Director and the Clinical Pharmacist Diabetes Educator at the Chickasaw Nation Medical Center. She is currently a pharmacist at the Chickasaw Nation Purcell Clinic where she works as a provider in the AMS and HMMS clinics. In addition, she provides CDE services to clinic staff and patients. She serves as the preceptor of the outlying clinic elective for the residency program.

Kenneth Stearns, Pharm.D., MHA
Pharmacy Clinical Informatics Coordinator

Dr. Kenneth Stearns received his doctorate in pharmacy from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in 2015. He completed a PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency in 2016 with the Indian Health Service (IHS) at Claremore Indian Hospital in Claremore, Oklahoma. He serves as the Pharmacy Informaticist for the Chickasaw Nation Division of Health.
