Nutrition Programs

WIC Supplemental Nutrition Program

The Chickasaw Nation Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program, is a non-discriminatory program serving Native and non-Native applicants, which provides pregnant or postpartum women, infants and children up to the age of 5, nutritious foods at no charge. WIC educators and nutritionists provide helpful nutrition information and counseling to moms and families. Lactation consultants and breastfeeding peer counselors are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to encourage and support breastfeeding moms through daily challenges. For 24-hour breastfeeding support, contact (888) 439-8970.

WIC is a United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) funded food and nutrition education program.

WIC food packages have been updated to provide families a wide variety of foods, including: infant foods, infant cereals, adult iron-fortified cereals, milk, fruit or veggie juices, eggs, cheese, peanut butter, dried or canned beans, soy based beverages, tofu, fresh fruits and veggies, whole wheat bread and other whole grain options.

The Chickasaw Nation WIC program issues benefits through an electronic benefit card which makes getting WIC foods easier, more secure and much more convenient. For more information, call your nearest Chickasaw Nation WIC office to see if you and your family qualify.
