Achaaka Home Visiting

The Chickasaw Nation Achaaka (to thrive) Home Visiting program provides families with resources and skills to create supportive and healthy environments for children.

Achaaka Home Visiting offers a voluntary, culturally tailored support system for First American families living in Johnston, Murray, Carter, Garvin and Marshall counties. Utilizing the evidence-based Family Spirit curriculum, the program empowers caregivers, pregnant women and expectant families with First American children under the age of 3 to build healthy and successful families.

Dedicated educators build lasting relationships with families through regular home visits, providing vital resources about pregnancy health, breastfeeding, safe sleep and early childhood nutrition while incorporating culturally enhanced activities.

The program focuses on holistic family development by teaching positive parenting skills and encouraging early language literacy. Educators work side by side with caregivers to set future goals, including pursuing education and finding employment or child care solutions. To keep families engaged and supported, the program features an incentive program where participants earn points to purchase essential items tailored to the family's specific needs, ensuring they have the physical and emotional resources to thrive.
